Josh Strauss and Jess Levey are a husband and wife photo/video team. We got married in Brooklyn in April 2011 just two blocks down from our apartment in Carroll Gardens. We know exactly how stressful planning a wedding can be. We also know that aside from your guests, the music and the booze, your memories and the documentation of this amazing day is vital to your happiness. We do take posed portraits of your family and the bridal party very seriously, but we pride ourselves on capturing all those candid, ‘non-posed’ moments which happen throughout the day- your uncle dancing with a bride’s maid, your grandmother crying on your mom’s shoulder, your nieces and nephews scheming to lick icing off your cake. Our couples always tell us that we were everywhere but never in the way. We have a way with keeping our distance but still getting the perfect shot, we like to keep it natural, and prefer to use available light even in indoor locations. Our laid back and fun demeanor puts everyone at ease especially during the most stressful of moments.
We feel that it is an honor to be selected to capture and portray your wedding day. Clients and guests always comment that it is obvious that we love working together. We understand the advantage of having a husband and wife documenting this day. We also understand that like that couple down the hall, you may not love both of us, so it’s fine to split us up- hire just one of us for photo or video or just to run your photo booth, whatever you want is always OK with us.
We are proud recipients of the prestigious Editor’s Pick award from The Knot in 2011 and their Bride’s Choice award in 2012 as well as the Bride’s Choice award from Wedding Wire in 2011 and in 2012. We won these awards due to our outstanding client reviews which you are welcome to read here.
Congrats on your engagement and hope to meet you soon!
